The Review
Three Shots To The Wind is the latest addition to the “A Chloe Jackson, Sea Glass Saloon Mystery” series. Chloe feels more and more at home in the beautiful beach town and with her work and ownership of the saloon. She loves running on the beach, the wind in her hair, and serving drinks to tourists and locals. But her happiness is disrupted when someone starts sending her gifts of all her favorite things, and a flying banner pronouncing their love for her appears in the sunny skies above the saloon. Just when she thinks things can’t worsen, she comes across a body floating facedown near her bungalow. Unfortunately, the body belongs to none other than her ex-fiance, Perry. Worse yet, Rip was seen arguing with the victim shortly before his demise, making him the #1 suspect in Perry’s murder.

Fans of this series will love all of the clues left behind for them to find and scrutinize their significance in the plot. Suspects are easy to find and follow as they are hanging out at the saloon and on the beach. It isn’t hard to figure out that many of the suspects had a motive and the opportunity to kill Perry. Why they picked Chloe’s beach to leave the body becomes clear as the evidence stacks up, and fingers are pointing to Chloe and Rip as the culprits. But there is a side of Perry that Chloe had never seen, and she isn’t sure she would have liked that adds to the intrigue. Too many things about him don’t add up, and maybe one of his hidden talents and adventures caught up with him. Tracking down this killer won’t be easy, but Chloe feels it’s her duty to get justice for her ex, even if it means putting herself in the line of fire.

Three Shots To The Wind is a well-written story with plenty of clues to lead to the killer’s unmasking. That is not to say it is easy to find the bad guy, as this story is also complex and filled with deceitful evidence and motives. The saloon and Vivi, who is opening up more to Chloe, play a part in the investigation but the main focus is on the beach itself. Tracking down the killer keeps Chloe and readers on their toes, and there is plenty of action to keep the story moving. Readers will want to run along Florida’s shores while hoping they don’t come across any of their own exes floating on the waves.
