The Dog Who Knew Too Much

pet seriesAmerica’s favorite dog comes to pet-friendly Wagtail for some rest and relaxation, but Holly quickly discovers that this perfect pup is a total scamp who takes every opportunity to run off and misbehave. During an outdoor treasure-hunting game, the star dog and Trixie, Holly’s beloved Jack Russell terrier, stumble across a dead body.

Holly has more than murder to worry about, though, when a man shows up after reading an article featuring Trixie in a magazine and claims that he is the dog’s rightful owner. Holly will need to prove that she is her pup’s only parent and catch a killer to restore peace to her pet-loving happy place.

From Berkley Publishing comes the charming newest addition to the “A Paws & Claws Mystery” pet series by Krista Davis, The Dog Who Knew Too Much.

This series is delightful from start to finish. The characters are filled with a zest for life that makes reading these books amusing and exciting. The suspects, victim, and killer are highly entertaining, with everything needed to keep readers coming back for more. The location is lovely and fills pet lovers with joy. Pet series cozies aren’t unusual, but Krista Davis does this one exceptionally well. She knows who the characters are and keeps them true to their roots.

When Trixie finds yet another body, Holly can’t keep her nose out of the investigation. When someone takes a shot at her, however, she knows she is getting close to unraveling this mystery. Dogs and cats feature prominently throughout these books. Holly’s hotel and the entire pet-based town are always filled with animals roaming all over the place, and when a famous dog comes to town, the tourist numbers double. The cute little dog goes missing before long, and Holly comes to the rescue. More than one crime is solved in this pet series, and as always, Holly and Trixie are the heroes.

The Dog Who Knew Too Much is a fast-paced page-turner with a bunch of suspects, clues, and red herrings that keep readers guessing. Readers will relish every page and won’t be able to put this book down until the last word is read. I am happy to recommend this pet series to animal lovers and mystery lovers of all kinds.
