When Julia realizes that her father might be at the center of the murder she keeps her cool. She remains calm and logical, determined to find the truth no matter the cost. He isn’t the man she grew up knowing but he is still her father. Even though Julia does not like the victim, she admits that she didn’t know him well and may be biased in many regards. That won’t stop her though.

This is the second book in the Peridale Cafe Mystery series. It can be read as a standalone mystery with little need to delve into the previous book. Agatha Frost has written an enormously entertaining story with all the elements required to keep the reader turning the page. It is a fast-paced story with grounded, well thought out characters. The setting is a small village with everything that comes with it. Gossip, rivalries, and family, The unveiling of the killer is exciting as well as plausible and is revealed in a methodical fashion with no questions remaining as to the murderer’s guilt. This book and the series is highly recommended.
